Gundagai Shed & Otway Street Community Garden

We’re proud to support our local community shed which houses both Men’s and Women’s Sheds. Gundagai Shed promotes health and wellbeing through community, shed and personal projects.  Many of their activities are centred on reducing waste entering landfill through restoration, repairing, repurposing and salvaging. The shed also runs and maintains Otway Street Community Garden, a local food initiative to mitigate food insecurity within our township.

GMP has provided Gundagai Shed with funding for their community garden project as well as made donations to the shed to assist in operational expenses. Gundagai Shed plays an important role in community-led adult education and has facilitated workshops and events targeted at improving resilience, health and wellbeing.

You can follow Gundagai Shed through their Facebook page or subscribe to their newsletter by writing to them at [email protected].

The rate of suicide in remote and very remote Australia is almost double the rate in major cities.

When the opportunity to support a film putting the spotlight on hardship that comes with drought in regional and remote Australia including suicide, we were immediately on board.

The Food Plot

We’re delighted to be supporting Skye in her mission to bring fresh seasonal produce to Gundagai through the ‘Food Plot Project’ – a collaboration aiming to design an efficient, productive and sustainable micro-farming system.

GMP has provided Skye with the land to build the market garden. In addition to selling her produce, Skye will also be integrating an educational component to the market garden to educate our youngsters on eating healthy and inspiring them to have a go at growing their own.

You can follow the growing journey of the Food Plot on Instagram @thefoodplot_gundagai and watch this project come to fruition!
